Ice Sculpting at the Icehotel in Lapland

back to The Prizes

Take a 3-night break at the magnificent Icehotel set amongst pristine wilderness in Swedish Lapland - known the world over and often featuring in lists of the most unusual or inspiring places to stay. While you’re there learn how to sculpt ice with a fascinating workshop with an expert!

Icehotel
Jukkasjarvi is located 200km north of the Arctic Circle, in the heart of Swedish Lapland and is just a short drive from the airport in Kiruna. Kept at a constant -5°C to -8°C, the interior actually feels quite pleasant, especially when outside temperatures can drop to around -37°C!

Walk past several ice sculptures and imaginatively lit ice art towards one of the most popular rooms - the Absolut Ice Bar. With its vaulted ceiling, plenty of ice block seating (thankfully covered in reindeer skins) and see-though bar, it serves an impressive range of colourful vodka cocktails, naturally served in chunky ice glasses.

Design Suites are created by the team of technicians, resident at the Icehotel, people who have expertly crafted suites often in a number of previous constructions. These suites are a ‘step up’ from the standard double ice rooms and will have a variation on a theme.

Ice Sculpting
Spend time with an expert ice artist and learn about the properties of the River Torne ice. Watch as you are given a detailed introduction and then create your very own masterpiece.
